London to Somerset, Kenya and Hampshire:
Katy grew up between Highbury, North London, and a rambling water mill on the Somerset coast. The calming power of nature, after the harsh architectural forms of the city, has always struck a chord with her.
Although Katy painted all her life, following a move to Kenya in 2005 to bring up her young family, she started painting professionally and holding regular exhibitions. The subjects she loved the most were the big skies and wild birds, drifting around safari tents and gathering in great noisy clouds on her studio veranda.
In 2014, with heavy hearts her family moved back from Kenya to Hampshire, England, where she took a Masters Degree in textile design, at Winchester College of Art, and learnt to adapt her paintings to fabrics and wallpapers. She now creates paintings that referencing the textile designs of the Arts and Crafts movement.
